For parents

For parents

What this is, and what it keeps.

Your teacher runs everything. They arrange the lessons, set their own prices and keep their own records. Your arrangement is with them.

My1on1 is the tool they use. We make the software and nothing else — we do not teach, we do not choose the prices, and we never take a share of a lesson.

Ask your teacher first. They hold your child’s record and can change or remove it themselves. If they cannot help, or you would rather write to us, support@my1on1.com reaches us.

What this is

Your teacher uses My1on1 to run the lesson, and to send you the bill.

We are not the teacher, and we are not a tutoring agency. We make the software they use. You chose them; you did not choose us.

Your child has no account

No password, nothing to remember, nothing to sign up for. The link you were sent is the whole of it. It opens their lesson and nothing else.

Nothing is recorded

No video. No sound. No transcript. Nothing written on the whiteboard is kept.

The lesson happens, and then it is gone. Nobody at My1on1 can watch it, during or afterwards.

You are welcome to sit in

Your child’s link opens the room for you as well. There is a seat for you beside your child and your teacher, and nothing about that is recorded either. Your teacher decides how their lessons run, so if you would like to join one, tell them.

What we hold about your child

Their first name, and the days and times of their lessons — including the time zone they are in, so a lesson shows at the right hour on their screen.

If their teacher teaches more than one subject, we hold which one each lesson is. We also hold whether a lesson is online or in person — never where. No address is stored anywhere in this app.

No surname is needed. No date of birth, no school, no schoolwork, and no notes written here.

Their teacher can add a link to notes or homework they keep somewhere else, and it appears on your child’s own page. We store the address only — we never see what is behind it — and anyone holding your child’s link can open it.

We also hold your name, your email address, and your telephone number if the teacher was given one, so that they can reach you and a bill has somewhere to go. We hold how you are related to the child in their words — “mother”, “grandmother” — and, if they have named the family, that name, which is often a surname.

When the app sends you a message on your teacher’s behalf — a lesson cancelled, and later a bill — we keep a copy, so that there is a record of what was said and when. That copy holds your email address, your child’s first name and the words of the message. It is kept in a mailbox of ours at Google Workspace, and your child’s lesson link is never copied there — that link is how your child gets in, so it is deliberately left out.

Money

You pay the teacher, not us. We never hold their money or yours.

Card and bank details are typed on Stripe’s own page and never touch this site.

Your child is never shown anything about money — not on their page, not in the lesson, not anywhere they can read.

Who the teacher is

We want to be plain about this. We do not run background checks and we do not verify qualifications. Your teacher is somebody you chose, and the arrangement to teach is between you and them.

The link your teacher sent you already shows your child’s lessons, and offers to put them into your own calendar — Google, Apple, Outlook. You do not have to ask anybody for it.

Your teacher may keep the lessons in their own calendar — the one on their phone or their computer. It shows your child’s first name and the time of the lesson, so that they do not miss it. Your child’s own lesson link is never put there, because that link is how they get in.

Anything you would like changed or removed, ask your teacher. They can remove your child, and everything belonging to them goes at the same time.
