Your agreementYour agreement with My1on1
In plain words. Please read it — it is short on purpose.
Version …
1 · Who we are, and what we do
My1on1 is a service of Sypher Edge LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of Georgia, United States. Wherever this agreement says “we” or “us”, it means Sypher Edge LLC.
We make software that helps you run and bill your own tutoring.
We do not teach. We do not employ you. We do not find you students, and we do not sell lessons.
2 · Your teaching is yours
Your prices, your timetable, your cancellation policy and your decisions about which children you teach are entirely yours.
The agreement to teach a child is between you and that child’s family. We are not part of it.
3 · How the money works
Your families pay you, not us.
Payments are handled by Stripe, a payments company you will have your own account with. The money goes from the family, to Stripe, to your bank. We never hold your money at any point.
4 · What you pay us
A monthly fee for the software. That is the only money we take.
We never take a share of a lesson. You can stop paying and leave whenever you like.
5 · Card, bank and identity details
Stripe collects your identity details and the bank account your money goes to, and Stripe holds your families’ card and bank details. We never see any of them. If something needs correcting, you do it with Stripe.
6 · The other companies, and their own terms
Some of what you use here is run by other companies. Stripe moves the money, and a few others run the video, the whiteboard, the website and the place your roster is stored.
Stripe is a separate company and a separate agreement. When you set up payments you make your own account with Stripe and agree to their terms. We are not part of that agreement, and it is not part of this one. What Stripe does with your money, your identity details and your families’ card and bank details is covered by their agreement with you.
The same is true of the others: each has its own terms, and we cannot promise how somebody else’s service behaves. If one of them stops working we will tell you, and fix what is ours to fix — but we cannot promise their service, only ours.
Who they are, and what each one sees, is listed in what we hold.
7 · If a family does not pay
The app will remind them for you, in your name, and it will tell you where things stand.
But the money is owed to you, not to us. We cannot recover it for you, and we are not responsible for it.
8 · Refunds and disputes
If a family disputes a payment, that is between them, you and Stripe. We cannot decide it, and we do not pay it.
The payment records — what was charged, when, and to whom — are held by Stripe, in your own account, and you can get them there. Everything we hold about your lessons and your prices is visible to you in the app at any time, and you can take a copy of it whenever you want.
9 · We do not check who teachers are
We do not run background checks. We do not verify qualifications. We do not vet anybody.
A family choosing a tutor is choosing that person, not us.
Your account is for you alone. Please do not share your sign-in, or let anybody else teach through it. Each teacher needs their own invitation, so that everybody teaching through this app has agreed to these words themselves.
10 · Nothing is recorded
No video, no sound, no transcript, no copy of the whiteboard. That is deliberate, and it is one of the things we are proudest of.
It also means there is no recording to look back on if there is ever a question about what happened in a lesson.
11 · Children’s details
You give us a child’s first name and their lesson times. That is all we ask for, and it is all we want.
Please do not put anything else about a child into this app — no address, no medical information, no notes about their needs, nothing about their family.
By adding a child, you are telling us that their parent or guardian knows you are using this app to teach them.
12 · When the software goes wrong
We will fix what we can, as quickly as we can. But software has faults, and you should read a bill before you send it, the same as you would if you had written it yourself.
If something we got wrong costs you money, what we can be asked to pay back is limited to the fees you have paid us in the twelve months before it happened. We are not responsible for indirect losses — lost earnings, lost students, or the time it took to sort out.
13 · If something you do causes us a problem
If somebody makes a claim against us because of something you did — how you taught, what you charged, what you put into the app — you cover our costs in dealing with it.
14 · Stopping
You can stop whenever you like, with no notice and no penalty.
Ask us and we will send you your information — your families, your lessons and your prices — in a form you can keep, within thirty days. After that we delete what we hold, apart from anything we are required to keep for tax or accounting.
15 · If we change this
We will show you the new version and ask you to agree to it. The version you agreed to stands until you do.
16 · Which law applies
The law of the State of Georgia, United States, and any dispute is dealt with in the courts of that state.
17 · How to reach us
Email support@my1on1.com, or use “Something not working?” on your lessons page. That is also where you ask us to give you your information or delete your account.
If any of this is unclear, ask us before you agree to it. An agreement you did not understand is not one we want.
